Teacher: One who teaches…or so says the dictionary. The fact is a teacher is so much more, and an effective teacher is one whose value to your town, your nation, the world, cannot be overestimated. The adage “No man stands so tall as when he stoops to help a child,” just begins to shine light on the value of a great teacher. When a child requires far more attention from a teacher than other children, it diminishes time invested in the rest of the class, and non-English accomplished students obviously require more teacher involvement. Non-involved students, even those with skills, steal from others who have a desire to learn. The faster those students become proficient/involved the more effective is the educators’ time for all. A teacher’s job is not to drill knowledge into a student, but rather awaken a child to the joy of learning. A child who learns while laughing is not a detriment to the classroom, but rather an asset. The energy of overactive students can be used to fuel the learning engine, and classroom games are the track that leads to the joy of learning.
